A Talent for Trouble by Jen Turano...My Review

I recently received Jen Turano's latest book, A Talent for Trouble, from Bethany House publishers. They sent me a free copy to review for them.  Here is bit from the book's back cover:

Miss Felicia Murdock firmly believed her destiny was to become a minister's wife. When the minister on whom she had set her sights marries another lady, Felicia is forced to take a close look at her life and comes to a few uncomfortable conclusions. Determined that something needs to change--and soon--Felicia discovers she is finally ready to spread her wings and embrace life the way she's always wanted.

And, trust me, that is ONLY the beginning!  There is soooo much more to this book. I LOVED IT! I knew I would because it came from Jen Turano. She has such a sense of humor and a unique way of writing. I think its great when you fall in love with the main character within the first few paragraphs, and I did love Felicia from page one!  I also love a good mystery and this book has one weaved throughout the whole story. It culminates near the end of the book and has you sitting on the edge of your seat!  The writing is excellent, the story is captivating and the plot is intriguing. Can I say more?

There is no cussing and minimal -very minimal violence. The book teaches us all a lesson about God and about ourselves, without being preachy. This is fine for younger (teen) readers and all ages will truly enjoy it. It is a light read, but not fluffy.  I highly recommend it and hope you love it as much as I did!!  I have no doubt you will!!

Into The Whirlwind - by Elizabeth Camden (Bethany House)

Just finished reading this brand new book from Bethany House. I received it for free so as to submit my review. I really loved it!  One of my favorite things about it is that it had a touch of romance throughout the whole story but it did not overtake the story.  The setting takes place during the Great Chicago Fire.  It is about Mollie and how she has to survive the fire and work on rebuilding her watch company and her life.  She is bound by her own issues of having everything in her life in order, but not really finding security.  Sometimes it comes in the most interesting places.  She deals with a lot of conflict personally and through her business.  She has choices to make and deals with loss of many things in her life.  There is an issue that comes up in the book that really frustrates me.  I won't give it away, but I will say that I am so happy with when and how it gets resolved.  This is a great historical fiction read and I highly recommend it!  You will enjoy reading it as much as I did!
