Worry does not empty tomorrow of its sorrow. It empties today of its strength. - Corrie Ten Boom, author and human rights activist

I was thinking how true this statement is. I worry about everything all the time. It's no way to live. I have actually gotten better since Chad and I have gotten married. Well, maybe better in some ways and worse in others. Chad has helped me not to worry so much about what will happen tomorrow and just enjoy where you are today. However, I have gotten worse about worrying about him and what will/could/might happen. Of course, it doesn't help when we see a certain doc of his and he tells us every time we are in there.. "ya know, you could drop dead at any time!" Yeah, somehow, that weighs on your mind over time. I do work on it. I had a bad time the other day. Chad had a migraine and slept for over 3 hours. I began to get anxious and wonder if he would ever wake up. I had myself so worked up and also in a frenzy over losing the cat (she was gone longer than he was sleeping and we couldn't find her.. she ended up getting locked in the basement when I did laundry..lol!). I was soooooo exhausted later that night that I went to bed early and felt like I had wasted my day.
They say that 90% of things you worry about don't ever really happen. WOW.. that is a big number. So, here we are all worrying about what if's ... and getting exhausted ... and wasting our days.. and these things never come about. Hmm.. sounds like a big waste of energy to me. And I think it is a distraction of Satan also. After all, the bible warns us to no worry about tomorrow..for it has enough of it's own troubles. But, being imperfect, some of us, I fear, will always suffer with this. But let's all make it our determination to not worry so much. Let's work on worrying about today and its problems and get them settled before we move on to tomorrows. After all, we can prepare, but we cannot prevent. We must leave that up to Jehovah God. So, let's prepare to handle what we have to and not worry about what we cannot change. You with me????

Is procrastination curable?

I got the following message in my inbox this week. It spoke volumes to me. I think I must be THE biggest procrastinator of all time. I thought it had some good points I would share. THEN I found the cartoons online and KNEW I had to share them. Maybe it will help you to not put off until tomorrow what you can and SHOULD do today! I can attest to the fact that sometimes procrastination cost you a LOT more money and heartache than if you had just done what you needed to do when you needed to do it. Don't fall into the trap. I am going to work on not procrastinating anymore...but maybe not until tomorrow...LOL....(that WAS a joke!! hehe)

You can't escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.

- Abraham Lincoln, U.S. President

Is procrastination curable?
Procrastination. Putting off until tomorrow what you could do today. Is there a more counterproductive habit? It causes more stress and anxiety than the Grinch in December. Procrastination solves nothing and usually makes things worse. It piles up unfinished business and preoccupies the dark corners of your brain. You hope the pile will disappear but for some reason it doesn't. The worst part is that once we put off things we'd rather not do, we start to delay the fun stuff as well. How many times have you said "no" to an opportunity because you had to take care of something you put off earlier? How many lost opportunities can you accept? Let's make action a habit instead. Tomorrow, focus on your toughest hurdle first. Get just that one thing out of the way and enjoy the rest of the day. Be firm and don't let yourself off the hook. After all, it's not going away. Follow that one strategy and you'll be surprised how the momentum carries through the rest of the day. Do it no

The importance of an apology...

Thought this was a very interesting quote. It is amazing what great things an apology can accomplish. I recently had a situation where someone had done something to really hurt me. I talked to her about it and, shockingly to me, she never even said or acted like she was sorry. . . A few days later, she did apologize and told me she should have done so sooner, but felt like it was not enough to say she was sorry. Well, not to sound like I did NOT appreciate the apology whenever it came, but I felt like it was a little too late. At least if she had said she was sorry at the time, it would have been a step in the right direction. Just goes to show that those two words.."I'm Sorry!" said with sincerity can go a LONG LONG way in repairing relationships. It's not always about who is wrong and who is right, but about showing how much we value the other person's role in our lives. Sometimes we feel so justified in NOT saying sorry, that we damage things beyond repair. However, it is very important that we are sincere in saying it and not doing it for show or just because. Sometimes it does take awhile to calm down and think things through. So, I encourage each of you to take a look around you and think about your relationships with friends and family. Is there a need to apologize? It could have been an offense that happened years ago that you need to repair. Or, we may just THINK someone is upset with us - not really even knowing why. Why not say you're sorry and see if you don't feel a whole lot better!!

FLOODS!!!

Just wanted to fill everyone in on the floods in our area. We are safe where we live, but it is a mess around here. We know two families that live near the river. One of them has a really nice BIG ole house that they have redone and filled with antiques. It is beautiful!! As of this morning when I talked to Joyce, they were ok. The river had not risen this morning, although the news reported it had risen a foot and a half in some nearby areas. It is 3o feet over its normal state. The other friends we have live in a small trailer. They were asked to evacuate the area last night. Haven't heard yet what has happened today. But all are safe and ok. I called our friends in Nashville, TN today. It was a scary phone call. She basically said (In under 30 seconds!) that they were living in chaos and life was not good, but they were fine and no one had died! Felt a LITTLE worse after the conversation - because there is so much more I want to know.. but she was in a rush and going a little crazy. Will try her again sometime. So, that's the story for now. Back in 1937 there was a HUGE flood here in KY. I am going to attach some links. One of the more interesting stories from that time is about a cow that ended up standing on a second story balcony when the waters subsided. There is a mural in Paducah and I think a restaurant. I will attach a story about that also if I can find it. Chad and I are safe at the moment. Its just further signs of the times!! Buckle your seatbelt.. it's headed your way next!!! (or probably sometime soon!) And remember, we are one day closer to the new world!!

** Correction... the flood of 1913 is the one that had the cow story. Notice the pic above.. upper right hand corner..

Hummingbirds!!

Hummingbirds are very abundant here in KY. I have slacked off a little this year from having my feeder up and ready. Mainly because I desperately need a new one and I am looking for a special kind. ANYWAY, here is a site I found where you can make your own food and feeders. (Nope, haven't attempted feeders this way yet. I made some real cool ones from old glass soda bottles, but never found the right tips for them. The ones I bought leak! Now I am afraid to buy any more..bummer!) Enjoy!!

Have you danced today?

We should consider every day lost in which we have not danced at least once.

- Nietzsche, philosopher

Borrowing the quote and comments from Sparkpeople.com. They send me an inspirational newsletter everyday and I thought this was full of nice thoughts. My comments will follow..ENJOY!

Finding and celebrating the joy in life
Each day is a new chance to find joy and to dance. If you let it pass or think it useless, the chance is gone and you'll never get it back. When was the last time you played? Or just did something for the sheer fun of it? Joy is not found in the world around you, it's within yourself. You can make your own joy, especially during those dark times when you need to really feel alive again. Fun and play are healthy antidotes to taking life--and ourselves--too seriously. They're proven boosters of immune systems and mental health and make life worth the trouble. So do the twist. Sing in the shower. Learn a magic trick. Watch a cartoon. Challenge some kids to a game. Don't let a single day go to waste.

Patti's thoughts:
I do try to do this daily. At least find something to find joy in. Growing up my Mom always taught us to 'make your own fun'. Especially if we were doing something we really didn't want to or knew we weren't going to enjoy. I think that is great advice. Whenever we left the house she would say...HAVE FUN! No matter what we were going to do. If we don't see the joy in life, we will live a miserable life. In this system of things, I sometimes feel like I am just going through the motions. Just living one day at a time to make it to the new world. But, in spite of all the promises the future holds of a MUCH better life, let's not forget to appreciate what we have been blessed with in this life. I woke up this morning feeling a bit grouchy. We are having a weekend full of HEAVY rain and storms AGAIN! (Same thing last weekend). We had a leak in our closet during the night last nigh.. so here we are, half asleep, cleaning out my closets... ALL my dress clothes, shoes, purses and bags, etc, etc.... NOT FUN. But when I started playing with Jaxson and Gidget, all the ugliness seemed to fade away. I decided to have fun, in spite of feeling grumpy. Now, what can I do to make the rest of the day fun? Dance in the rain? Hmmm... We'll see! Make yours a good one!!!!
